Hey Crazy....

I'm interested in your stand and the skins you've got on it??? What kind of would is that and can you give some more details please?

I'm interested in doing my new tank stand in steal with a skin job like yours...

Please let me know,

Thnanks

I found the decorative skin at the Home Depot the same stuff you would use for the bath and kitchen walls, it's like those thick peg board wall paper located in the wood department. Only reason i used it was cause it matched the furniture well.

Thanks Crazy,

that's interesting, not what I would have expected, but that works. Was it very expensive? Also, who did your stand, it's metal right? I'm also wanting a metal stand as well.

The tank at a minimum is going to be 4'x2'x2' and I'm currently tossing around the idea of going a little bigger at 4'x2.5'x2'! I actually ordered the first measurement and told the guy before he put it in to price out the second specs I just gave you.

I've been stuck with a little 60 gallon tank for about 10 years now and have DREAMT of a larger tank for so long now I can't stand it.

Anyway, I need to find someone to do a metal stand as well. Can you direct me to who did yours please?

Thanks!

I really like deep tanks and i would go for 3' instead of 2.5' but at least 2.5 could compensate for the overflow. My stand is not metal, I built the stand and opted to use wood 2x4's for the frame and just skinned it so i can remove all panels for easy maintenance under the tank. Try asking some of the guys at our Local Forum about their metal stands, i think they all had theirs made by the same guy. Good luck with your next build and keep me posted.

Truely thank you for the inspiration. I had people coming over tonight to take my coral and tear down my tank. The economy has hit me like a doulbe barrel shot gun. I lost 2/3 of my income in one year. After looking at your tank i will find a way to make it thourgh the hard times. I have my dream 4x2x2 in the garage, it will be in the dining room before i go to bed. Thank you for such beauty. My day will be brighter now!

Sorry to hear of your situation, it must feel horrible having to tear down your tank. I'm glad my tank has still given you the will to continue with this hobby and i wish you the best of luck!

crazy, sweet tank man..definitely, one of the best aquascape around..had a question, on pg19, u illustrated the rods, but i figure those are the 1/2" rods, so on the smaller pieces you used many pencil sized rods, also did just predrill the rocks, for the rods? thx

I have to admit, when I first saw your tank, I didn't really like it (please don't yell at me :)). BUT, after seeing it grow out, it's obvious you knew what you were doing all along with the aquascaping! It looks incredible! I absolutely love the design! Your fish selection is amazing as well as unique. :)

I have one Threadfin Cardinal right now (it was the only one that made it through the shipping because it was late). From your experience, do you think I'd be ok to add more even though he's been in there for a couple of months? I'd really like to have a school of 5-6.

Again, awesome job and thanks for sharing! :)

Anin, Yes i pre drilled the rocks for the rods and i did use the pencil size rods for the smaller more fragile rocks. On pg19 only the red lines are rods and the green lines are zip ties.

Kaserpick, Thanks....I think... hahahaa It's all good. The Thread fins are much more hardier than the Red Spots (parvalus). You can add as much of those cardinals anytime you want, I've notice they will automatically group up with their own kind once you put them in the tank.

ok thanks for clearing that up, i would like to try to utilize your concept for my 50g breeder lol, obviously only 36x18x18, but i really would like to create that open feel like in your...Thanks for sharing all this info..much appreciated

I love those cardinals. I recently tried to get my hands on 15 of them. No luck. :(

Sorry to hear that. I assume you are referring to the Red Spots (Apagon Parvalus), i was frustrated as well when i'd order 10 and only have 3 live. Really sensitive fishes, luckily i still have 6 of them very active and healthy.

Great! I am already picky about how I lay out my rock work, now that I seen this I am never going to be happy with it...

Great Job! Original and impressive...

That's good to hear. Actually I was talking about the Threadin Cardinals. Though I like the Red Spots too.

I'm curious. Did that Blueface Angel you had turn out to be a coral eater?

Woodward6288, I am currently using a bulb combo of a 250w XM 20k and a 400w Reeflux 12k all retrofitted in my pendant. The bulbs are side by side and the XM turns on for 8hrs 11am-7pm, the Reeflux turns on for 4hrs 1pm-5pm to mimic high noon.

Paulthomas, The blueface was a model citizen with all my corals. It got spoiled with what i was feeding and kept begging for pellets and flakes like a crack addict lol . However i did not have any zoas and minimum meaty type corals so i would not recommend one if you have some. When i first got the blueface it would nip on the SPS here and there but it quickly got tired of them and started to get more and more addicted to fish food i was feeding.

Hi crazy4acros, Please you show your pendant, I want to see the you fixing method combo bulb MH. Thank you.

I don't have any corals yet. Matter of fak, I don't have my display tank yet either. But I pretty much ruled getting a blueface out. If I can keep my Majestic alive , he'll be one of the couple/few angels that I plan to keep.
