I have been put on the bonsai serial killer list... if I go near another one, lights flash and I'm escorted out of the store... heheheheee... I always loved bonsai's and I've tried for years with little to no success... but I do often relate the hobby of growing corals to that of bonsai... very similar and just as amazing...

Just gorgeous! I, too, love the open look. Too often tanks are just a jumble of rock with coral stuck in. This is absolutely amazing! Congrats.

Thank you for all the wonderful comments!

SEAN888, that is one beautiful tree you got there. Not the typical evergreen type, very nice!

ManotheSea, i did a Google on Roger Dean, and that is some pretty cool off the wall stuff i dig it!

Jester, i agree our tanks definitely resemble miniature reefs.

hey ya. i was wondering what kind of rock you used. you have inspired me to make a mini cube reef. thanks

Thanks guys, it's a chinese elm. You can actually decide if it is everygreen or not, if you leave it outside during the winter it will loose all of its leaves but if you bring it inside it will keep its leaves an grow like an evergreen.

Reef design is very similar to Saikei bonsai which is landscaping over rocks trying to make it look as natural as possible.

This is some of the best content I've seen in six pages. Beautiful set-up crazy. Was it tough to get the rockwork in your tank once it was assembled? Oh wait, you went rimless. ;) Attention to detail... Seriously though, I hope my tank comes out as well as yours.

Thanks,
Paul

I love this shot! It really shows the full beauty of the aquascape you've done. You should be very proud

Crazy4acros, awesome job and truly unique appearence. I am interested in the tank itself (no offense). Who is the manufacturer, where did you get it, and if you don't mind, how $$$?

Definitely love your set up! Thats one of the best aquascaping jobs I've ever seen! So, you don't have a refugium or atinic lighting correct?

Sorry i haven't been posting any updates, I kinda wanted to wait until everything grows out before placing any update pics. But in the meantime i hated seeing the frag rack i placed on the back wall of the main display, it just ruined the whole natural open look. So i decided to build a little inline frag tank for under the stand. I am still contemplating wether or not to cut a viewing hole for it, Im leaning towards it being hidden and not distract attention from the main display. The frag tank is lit with 2x T5's.
What do you think?

ssavader, i think your answer got lost on page 3 hahahha it's a LeeMar tank, i ordered though a local supplier (LFS).

hatfielj, Correct no refugium or atinic lighting, but i guess i can turn the little frag tank into a ref if i wanted to.

crazy4acros, what bulb and ballast are you using? The Lumenarc has great spread from the look of your photos. Is it Mogul or DE?

That answer got lost in page 5 hahahaha. I am using a SE 400w 20k Radium bulb on a PFO HQI ballast.
