book- advanced aquarium techniques

hey all,
i purchased this book (along with a few others) the other day from amazon.com. i hadn't heard of it before, but saw an ad somewhere and decided to check it out.

i'm really enjoying it. it has a sort of eclectic mix of information that goes above and beyond what you find in normal reef books. it's not too pricey, and would make a nice xmas gift imo!

just wanted to let you all know about this book. i'm always on the lookout for good reef info that's meaty and a bit more than the standard fare.

IIRC, Hemdal is the former department head of the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, and current curator of fishes and invertebrates for the Toledo Zoo.

Thanks. I'll pick it up. It will be interesting to get the perspective of a public aquarium curator. His experiences fall outside of our commercially-diven hobby information.

I always enjoyed Stephen Spottes' books (former curator of the Baltimore, Mystic Sea Life Aquarium). Lots of scientifically backed info without the hype.
