Booth at BAYMAC?

We have been invited to setup a booth at BAYMAC on Saturday, June 13. It could be good exposure for the club as well as a chance to hear some good speakers and to checkout some frags. Anyone interested?

Here is the info:

Guys, how would you like to have a booth at BAYMAC June 13th in San Jose to sell frags to raise money for the club? We'll have Frank Burr, Jake Adams, Scott Fellman and Rich Ross as guest speakers, several other clubs selling frags and a handful of other private frag vendors. We have a large raffle and all the proceeds are split amongst the clubs that take part. best part is, it's a free booth for you and the event itself is free admission. Last year I know BAR walked away with an extra $1500 they were not expecting to bank. It's a great way to help build both exposure for the club and money for such things as bringing in guest speakers if this sounds good to you if Ken could email (use the email link in my profile) I'll work out the details

I think that would be cool. Count me in Ken. If you need help let me know. Anyone else want to go I can hold 5 people so let me know.

That is the day before Flag Day........ gosh I'll have to look at my schedule.......I'm in! Should we row, sham, bow for who drives?

Way to go guys! I'm glad to see some enthusiasm. If a number of us go, we can switch off manning the booth and checking stuff out.

I nominate Shane for driving. His car is comfy and he lives near me. ;)

Like I said I can drive. Hopefully we have enough people that want to go that we need more than one car. But if not that will be there loss.

Thanks Dale. We probably need two cars as is as we have to take some stuff with us, like a table, folding chair(s) and probably these items Gresham recommends:

Tank
Stand
Lighting
Powerhead
Siphon hose (to drain tank)
Bags/rubber bands/containers
Petty cash
Extension cords
Towel
Frags
Sign (club sign)

im down. ken...if we're gonna attempt to sell corals to raise money for the club, we should start a tally of who can bring what.

Great idea Jake.

And we should be clear about how it will work. Everyone up for donating frags to the club which will be sold at BAYMAC with the funds going to the club?

yeah, i would say everyone donate something and all the proceeds go to the club to pay for nice raffle items or a speaker from a local company. i can donate a nice frag of nuc green palys/

Speakers from local companies should do your meetings for free. It's the non sponsored speakers you'll have to pay for. most are cheap and just need transport cost and a place to stay. We'd do your event for free if you ever want to hear Randy Reed speak on feeding you reef :)

FWIW all proceeds from a club booth must go to the club. Any private vendors are required to pay for their space to help pay for the event. Please no private sales out of clubs booths. That is not in the spirit of BAYMAC and if I see it both you and the club will be not only asked to leave right then, you also will not be allowed at any future BAYMAC events. BAYMAC does cost me money to put on as it's free admission and all raffle sales going to clubs leaves me with only one way to cover speaker flights, the venue, etc.

GreshamH no disrespect but it almost sounds like you think we are going to do private sales.

I know I for one am looking forward to the event. You know I just read back through the previous posts in this thread I think you may have misunderstood. I think Treesmoker was talking about raising money for the raffels we hold at are meetings. Anyway like I said no disrespect and I dont think any of our club members will break any of the rules and I am sure I will be buying lots of tickets myself I seem to hane good luck in raffles

I'm thinking of going but most likely will only be staying until about 3:00 at the latest. If anyone wants to do the same they can ride with me. I will donate some corals for our booth. Let me know which corals you think will sell and bring the club the most money and I will see what I can do.
