Anyone familiar with these? Conflicting info out there. Do they stay small or are they just juvenile cowfish. They have some at creative and they are so cute but I don't want a 12" cowfish in a year

Mooo!!! Lol, just kidding. I don't have any info on them but I've always wanted a cowfish, one of these days I may start a tank for one. Good luck.

My best guess is that they are just juveniles and will grow to reach the appropriate size for their specific species.

Did they look like Ostracion cubicus?

On their website they list it as Lactophrys sp. which means they don't even know what species it is. That's moe indication that they are just random juveniles of various species.

"Boston Bean" is a catch-all common name and is not specific to any one species. Individuals will grow up to represent their given species. None are considered reef-safe. Their addition to any aquarium should be only after great consideration and preparation. The Boxfishes ability to produce a potent toxin, Ostracitoxin, and it's ramifications within our aquariums should not be taken lightly.

A good primer on the subject,
