Bought 2nd perc, but not sure if it's a perc!

LFS had what was labeled tank bred percs for sale, and I bought one for my established perc. When I put the smaller one in the tank, I had to keep them separated for awhile with my fish net, as the established one was chasing the new one. The next day they are getting along fine, but do not swim together. The more I look at the new one, it looks more like a ocellaris than a perc. I know percs have darker black lines around the white ones, but wasn't sure if tank bred ones are harder to distinguish. Anyways, I will attempt to post a pic later. I just hope the LFS did not mislabel an ocellaris as a perc. I asked just to make sure, and they assured me they were percs.

the last pic almost looks like a perc... and the first two are useless...

even if it is an ocellaris, dont stress... i have a pair where the female is ocellaris and the male is a rod's onyx perc... no biggie... they get along fine and have been doing "mating dances" for months now...

Well, my perc just invited the little one into her anemone, so I guess love has bloomed! Whether he's an ocellaris or a perc, she's got her mitts on him now! Thanks for all the help!

Well, my suspicions were correct. I took him out today and brought him to the fish store I usually go to, and it is definitely an ocellaris. I exchanged him for a true perc, and I will keep you updated! If anyone shops at Strictly Fish in CA, they are selling ocellaris' as percs! (don't know if I'm allowed to call a store out like that, but the misinformation could've gotten that little ocellaris killed...

IMMEDIATELY paired up! I am soooo happy! I was happy the ocellaris and my perc got along, but I really wanted a mated pair. I am happy I decided to take the other out, as my local pet store was looking for a small male ocellaris to pair with a larger female. Best of both worlds!

It is not unusal for LFSs to sell ocellaris as percula clowns. When they sell A. percula they sell them as "True" Perculas. Unless there is someone who is a clownfish nut working at the store, that is pretty standard practice. Until just a couple years ago, you never saw the word ocellaris (or clarki for that matter) in any LFSs.
