:sad1:Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving!

My husband an I have had our reef tank set up just under a year. We purchased a Bird Nest Coral yesterday and noticed this morning it had 2 guys living in it. Can anyone help identify them? Are they reed safe? We also have a skunk shrimp that we do not want harmed. Both of these are about a 1/2 inch. Thank you for your help!

I have those types of pistols in my tank. Don't know if they, gorilla crabs (finally eradicated) or hermits killed off other hermits and porcelain crabs. But they don't bother fish or corals.

Thank you both for your reply. We called a friend that is just starting a tank and he is going to take them. We are too protective of our skunk shrimp it take the chance of allowing the other one to be around him.

Very good idea.....
I use a reef safe coral dip for 15 minutes on every coral I put in my tank to remove hitchhikers so they never get to my tank. SPS Acropora is famous for red bugs and once in your tank, they will kill your SPS.
So......always carefully inspect everything that goes in cause once in your done.
Always QT every fish for 30 days and ensure it is clean, behaving normally, and eating.

that shrimp looks like one I had in my tank but I could never, ever get a good look. It lived in a large birdsnest I had. The birdsnest died and I haven't seen it. Wonder if it's still in there? It was very elusive and I can't be sure but it looks like the same color.

Wild colonies often come with acro crabs that are incredibly cool and bother nothing. Check for them before dipping please.
