Bought a new toadstool, possibly has necrosis?

Hi, I bought a new 76 half circle tank the toadstool came with the purchase I got it home and saw the spots and the stem looking abnormal. Is it normal for the stem to be discolored at the bottom or is that an issue as well? My brother looked into it for me while I was at work and he came to the conclusion that it was most likely necrosis but we are trying to get more opinions before we try to do anything.

At this stage what are my options and what do you suggest to nurse this toadstool back to health?

looks fairly normal to me for a stressed coral...the base is normal, the crown separating the way it is, is likely the coral self propagating as a result of stress...it should be fine if you keep the parameters steady...it will likely drop a couple pieces, they should be fine as well if the water is good. these are very hardy corals.
