Hopefully my lfs will get several boxer crabs in stock in a week or so...

I want 2 for sure...but was wondering if I can get more for my 34g RSM tank?

Seeing how small they are I figure if I get more...say 4...I actually might see one on occaision...and if they like they can make plankton for the tank...

All I have for others at the moment are 2 emerald crabs and 1 peppermint shrimp...

Suggestions? Ideas?

Nobody has had a little herd in their tanks?

...never thought I might be the first!

Thanks! That helps a lot! How large is your tank? They're quite small...I suppose I could have more than 2 without issue...

They have a 'face' on their posteriors! Very cool! Wasn't aware of that!

I have 2 in my 65. I have lots of rock and usually don't see them until the daylights go off in the tank. They are pretty shy but very cool little creatures.

it's a 34 gallon CADLights with a 20 gallon sump/refugium. I have only seen the one in the refugium a couple of times as anything in there wanders throughout the different sections. Most people say that they aren't very long lived in aquaria so we'll see. I got them for I think $7.50 or so each on sale at bluezooaquatics.com

They're back to the normal price of $14.95 at bluezoo - still less than anywhere that I've seen.

Well...it looks like I might be getting 3...I'm 'adopting' one that is missing it's anemones, but otherwise healthy. It will be interesting to see what happens between the 3 of them. Hopefully they all do well...and the 3rd one ends up with anemones again!

congrats, enjoy them. I just saw the pom pom in my sump for the first time in weeks. he started out with one anemone and now has two.

Really??? Oh that's good to know! Yippee!

Well then...it will be interesting to see how the 3 of them get on...

I don't suppose they're easy to sex? I was thinking that one male and 2 females would be a better bet...

I don't know about sexing pom poms - but here are 2 pictures from ProjectDibs that show the different sexes of mithrax rubers.

First is the male, second is the female.

No problem! Thank you! Looks like I'll be invading some 'private areas' on some crabs soon!

Not the usual take on things!

Actually, it would be cool to put them in a separate tank or in the fuge and see what happens. I have been considering doing that with the red mithraxes - it's hard to get them to stay still long enough to make a positive id on sex, but I figure with 3 of them I have a fighting chance.

Let me know how it goes...
