Boycott petco!!!

aykfc - please just ask the mods to close this thread. No one here is going to go to this particular PetCo and quiz the employees regarding livestock care, or look at the birds or the fish. They're just going to keep criticizing you. Let it go or take it to the larger forums - there's nothing to be accomplished here. I wouldn't have trusted the Pavillions PetCo to handle the necropsy anyway. If there is a disease in the aviary, it wouldn't be profitable for THEM to report it. Please, you've been through enough. It's gotta suck to work at a store where the employees care, but the rules suck - you don't need this too.

I have voiced my opinion. You can make the final descision and do as you will. Just close this thread please.

Vote with your dollar!
One person can make a difference.
If you are offended by a company's corporate policy, do NOT patronize them.....at all.
Do not enter their store, visit their website, or give them free publicity.
Write to the corporate office, post your complaint, then remove their name from your vocabulary.

Stick to your principals.
Drive the extra mile or buy online from someone else.

Pco and Pm will never see a dollar from me. Ever.

As much as I would like to rescue the animals trapped inside those stores, doing so would only support the monster.

I think I will go down there today and have a look around. I will talk with them and see if they are actualy noncaring drones or if you're just a drama queen or doing this out of spite.

I will report my findings to this thread. If the thread is not still open I'll link a new one to this.

I'll stop by the"Amazing" petsmart too,So ya better start cleaning.I want to see these "amazing" stores. With thier "amazing" birds on this "amazing" day.

ETA:I'm shure the fish, dogsand cats are "amazing" too.:lol:And considering how lazy I can be ,It's simply "amazing" that I'm actually going to drive that far..

And Pupfish if you start a Conversation anything like the Pm I recieved from you,It's no wonder why nobody would listen to you.

Tip: Don't start off with an insult.

Try that and somebody might actually listen..

aykfc after a Pm I recieved from another board member you should heed the same advice...

Both of your hearts are in the right place but the method you use is lacking ,Taxing and "amazingly"self defeating

any smart person who has done their research probably isnt going to buy a $400 bird from petco in the first place, just as someone who has done their research probably won't buy a puppy from a puppy mill pet store, but a professional breeder, or just as any of us who have done our research generally won't buy sw fish from petco.

definitely sorry for the loss though.

Other than seed in the water bowl and alot of poop on the floor I did'nt see much of a difference between the two stores today ...
One of the managers did remember the bird lady,And I'll leave it at that.

Fish are double bagged like that so that there are no corners in the bag. If just bagged with one bag, the fish may dart into the corner to hide and then they suffocate (sp) when the bag is set down and the weight of the water collapses in on the corner.

My local petsmart the one I mentioned had an every fish 75% off sale that has never happened before. My thoughts are:
1) They are getting out of the FW bussiness, I dont really think so but who knows
2) they are upgrading their tanks (some are scratched and their sizes are really small
3) they had an outbreak of a disease and are selling all "clean" (looking) fish so they can drain the entire system.

only 3 reasons....

only 3 reasons....

Kind of like the only reason they would ever have a dollar a gallon sale is because they are going to quit selling aquariums???

How about this one and I'm just warming up... They are getgting ready for inventory and don't want to count livestock.

Got at least 100 more.

Im sorry, they have never done this before, and I thought it was odd. Expecially with their bad reputation for fish.

Yeah, this sunday is inventory on fish. Althought we are not supposed to be selling fish for cheap... What petsmart is this? As far as a disease, petsmart would not do that. We would QT all fish. Even the healthy ones. I doubt petsmart would be upgrading there tanks. My store is 15 years old, and when our district manager asked for new tanks we even got denied. There is a petsmart closing around here so I would assume if that is the store, then they would be selling all the fish. But I could be wrong in this assumption.

I was in the Petco in Prescott today and they didn't even have the Iams dog food I feed my Labs. Fish tanks were very neglected and 7 total, dead fish in their tanks. I'm not one to boycott and will still not do so, but was not happy and pretty concerned about the conditions witnessed.
