Is there a special bracket for a acrylic fish tank. How much heat is generated into the tank If I use the 6100 model.I have a 180 gallon tenecor tank with 2 gemini pumps and iwaki 70 with 2 sea swirls. When the gemini goes I was thinking of replacing with your power heads what model would you suggest. Im concerned about the heat generated by them compared to the gemini which is not submersed.

Dude there's a $5 bracket for acrylic tanks. Those pumps don't add diddly in terms of heat. I'm setting up a 180 in a month or so and will use two 6100's w/the multicontroller in the tank. I've experimented with one so far in a smaller tank and it's like unleashing a hurricane.

Their is an Acrylic tank bracket, basically it works with the delivered bracket to form an Erector set like L bracket. I have seen a better DIY solution, use a 3/4" bulkhead through the perimeter bracing, descend a length of pipe into the tank and zip tie the rail to the pipe. It is sturdier and seemed like a good solution. As for the heat- A 6100 uses 45w, about 10w is consumed externally by computer and transformer. I would predict an increase of less than .58 degrees farenheit over ambient per pump. This is a high end figure and is derived from some formulas given in Aquarium Ecology for calculating energy efficiecy and heat production of aquarium pumps. I have 2 7400/2 pumps (same motor) in my 120 and find no noticeable temperature increase with a basic thermometer.
