I bought this Brain Coral 1 week ago and the purple skeleton started turning brown in a couple of parts as you can see on the picture. Some info:

Light:
27pcs 3watt Cree Leds (13 Cool White and 14 Royal Blue)
with dimmer (running at about 50% White and 70% Blue)

Position of Brain:
About 4" from light on top

Water:
Amonia 0
Nitrite 0
Ph 8.2
Calcium 400
Nitrate 0
Kh 11
Phospate 0.1
Salinity 1.025

Is it because of the light? to strong?

Thanks!

4" from the top, and only having it a week sounds like a bad idea. I don't know if light shock can cause browning though. But that is a very short time for light acclimation. 400 on the calcium is a little low, but nothing crazy.

I agree with staindsoul. I would put it on the sandbed for a few days / a week to let it acclimate a little better. You might rule out light shock too. Not sure myself. My favia are all middle to low with my LEDs simply being too much light for them up top.

Also read up on brown jelly disease to make sure that is ruled out. It doesn't look slimy or stringy in photo, but you might as well read about it and know for future reference.
