Brain ID please

I was picking up some supplies at the LFS where I have been watching this brain slowly go down hill the last couple of months. I asked if they could cut me a deal on it seeing as it's in pretty bad shape. So, I left with my first brain for next to nothing. Now, to try to nurse it back to health, or do y'all think it's too far gone. Can anyone give me an ID? Some kind of Lobophyllia?

Ive seen much much worse looking colonies make great recoveries. Give it moderately strong lighting and offer food a couple times a week for a quick recovers (mysis is great for this).

Likely either a Lobophyllia sp or Symphyllia sp.

Thanks for the ID and info. I'll see if he opens up tonight and try to get it to take some mysis. He was in a very low light spot in the LFS tank, so I have placed him on the sand bed under the center brace so as not to shock it too much. I'll try moving it to a higher light position once it's on the road to recovery.

Wouldn't recommend placing high near the light due to tissue damage. I have seen it burn with simple t5s. 90% died until they lowered it away from the light. Now its actually opened at lower elevation. FYI

it looks like it will be fine. doesnt' actually look like much damage other than tissue recession. when it opens it looks like it will be huge.
