There's been a couple topics on this but I have not read the entire threads. I thought they said that it's not true and that most of the frogspawn is tank raised that is on the market. I could be wrong though.
It's always possible. I can't say I've never seen posts on the forums saying, "help everything is dying!"
That's one thing I dislike about the hobby, the uhhh... "insignificance" given to bleaching, rtn, etc... Or the 'learning your lesson' mentality. I'm not laying blame, but I think that's a revision to the mentality of the hobby that needs to happen where it can.
After all, we all know how tough frogspawn really is. So to see this is rather unnerving.
So I am assuming you are saying is we, as aquarists, should hold on tightly and with treat with reverence to what we have, correct? I am in agreement with this for certain!
Not unless something changed in the last week that I missed. Following the initial placement of the coral on the threatened list, USFWS jumped the gun and incorrectly indicated that it they were illegal to import. They have since retracted that statement and indicated it was an error.
You have to have a "lessons learned" attitude with this. If you don't it drive you nuts when your tank does inevitably have issues. Believe me, that attitude is not a nonchalant "oh well" attitude. It's a defensive mechanism to prevent your head from exploding.
Theses species have been put on the threatened list. There is no ban or any other action now or inevitable action in the future.
There are currently no prohibitions relating to individual conduct,
except for those related to the two previously listed elkhorn and
staghorn corals in the Carib
These are listed as threatened not endagered. The trade of these corals except as listed is not prohibited
