Based on my experience, initially they tend to come out at night. To get them out during daylight hours, you coax them out with a squirt of food early in the day, once out, feed them (I don't wait a few hours). I'm told if you continue doing this, over time, they will be accustomed to feeding time and will come out around that time and then be out during the day. I have mine 'trained' to come out early evening using this method when there are still a few hours of light left.
