Branching Sun coral

Got some before lights out polyp extension. Defrosting food to feed.

Sorry for the dirty glass.

How long does it tank and/or can you get the polyps to come out and stay out during the day? The polyps on mine start to come out after I feed my fish. Once they are fully open a few hours later I feed them. Will they get to the point of being open all the time, except right after being fed?

Based on my experience, initially they tend to come out at night. To get them out during daylight hours, you coax them out with a squirt of food early in the day, once out, feed them (I don't wait a few hours). I'm told if you continue doing this, over time, they will be accustomed to feeding time and will come out around that time and then be out during the day. I have mine 'trained' to come out early evening using this method when there are still a few hours of light left.

Thanks,
Joe

I have a few colonies that have become accustomed to stay open during the day. They usually open after I feed the fish, and then I feed the corals. They usually stay open if I continue to squirt a little food in the tank throughout the day.
