I can't even get the foam into the collection cup. There is an opening about an inch from the top of the housing opposite the intake and outlet, that is spouting out a stream of water, is this supposed to be happening??? hoping this is the problem, but i covered it with my finger and still no luck...what am I missing?

aret the tunze guys not around today? This morning it actually got up halfway, so maybe its a break in...but the ASM G2 its replacing was pulling nicely, so seems odd it would be so low...either way, I'm wondering about that hole in the back? Is that really supposed to be there?

Usually a skimmer takes a couple days to break in, plastic repels water until it gets a coating of biofilm. The hole is supposed to be there. Water should exit this hole and the outlet pipe.

Does this biofilm stay in place after cleanings??? Just wondering because the instructions say operation shouldn't change after cleaning...but if you remove the biofilm, how does this work?

It is a bit more complicated, the plastic does loose most of its' hydrophobic properties in time for more reasons than just the biofilm. Cleaning it thoroughly though can reduce performance for a day or so.
