Brand New 9440

Just got a 9440 skimmer from MD. Set it up and when I plugged the 2 pumps in, one of them is dead. Nothing. The other one works fine. Tried numerous times. Not the outlet. So unless there is a power switch I don't know about.... I'd like you to overnight me a new replacement pump. I'll be glad to return the defective one to you. Took forever to get it assembled in my sump and there is no way I'm going to disassemble it and reassemble my old skimmer at this point. Feel free to call me if you need to. Cell is 650-444-0103. Wow. Within 10 minutes of posting this I get a call from Roger. He trouble shoots the problem with me over the phone and I am up and running on all cylinders. The foam production on this skimmer is unreal. I had one of the smaller Tunze skimmers and this new one just blows the other one away. Once again, great products and GREAT customer service. Thanks again Roger.

What was the problem? I am about to set up a 9420 tonight and I want to be ready for any potential issues.

The pump had an airlock. Just had to rotate it around water. Now it is AWESOME!

Thanks for the tip. I am heading to my friends tonight and I talked her into buying a Tunze skimmer so I don't want to look bad.

Good luck. I love my new 9440. It is without a doubt the best skimmer I have ever had. I've had EuroReef, Precision Marine, etc. This one blow the others away. Unreal how much foam and scum it is producing. It's all plug and play. No adjustments. Can't say enough good things about it so far...

That is good to hear, not a surprise coming from the folks at Tunze though. I wanted my friend to buy the 9440 but she can always upgrade by adding another pump when her bioload increases.

Here's a pic as promised, better late than never It is performing flawlessly, consistently producing a nice stable foam. It is truly a set and forget skimmer.
