brand new stream kit vibration?

I just lit up a new stream kit (TS21) this morning and had a blast playing around with the settings in the garage. I got the magnet kit and so far I'm loving it, with one exception...

I noted that both pumps seemed to be vibrating a fair amount. I was surprised actually how loud they were. I did a search on RC and there were several vibration posts but that seemed to be a byproduct of extended use (buildup). Those posts also said that vibration due to buildup was worse at slower speeds.

Since these are brand new with only 5 minutes on them, it's not buildup. I clearly hear an audible hum from the pumps when at 100% on the multicontroller, and the slower it goes, the louder it gets. FYI - I am using the little rubber pads on the magnet holders.

Suggestions?

And to be honest what sort of sound should I expect? I had only seen them on relatively loud systems that may have masked their noise. But coming from silent powerheads for the last 15 years I'm somewhat surprised.

Thanks,

Dave

They are louder when new for a couple reasons, first it takes a while to purge the air from the pump, second, they need to wear in a bit. Most noise is gone within 2 weeks.

If the noise is extreme I would try two things, press in the bush bearing (collar around the well the magnetic rotor sits in). If that doesn't seem to be it, pry it out and rotate it 180 degrees and reinsert.

You should not be able to hear them much beyond a foot away from the tank.

Hello Houser

I have the same problem when i first hook up my 6200. I call Roger and he ask me to more the Bush Bearing around 180 and it quiet since. I think them pumps need time to break in.
