Brand New Tunze Nano Wavebox 6206 Issues

I am tired of calling around different voicemails and being redirected. I just received a brand new 6206 wave box from BRS and the pump is sticking right out of the box. I am very disappointed as I expected much more from this company.

Since i can not get anyone live I am leaving this message!

I hope this is not good money wasted....

The issue seems to be that the bottom panel holding the motor has a crack or hole where it mounts the motor causing the motor to drop and catch the side of the housing.

For the future a little more patience would be appreciated. Our US office is myself and Craig who answers the phone, it is not at all unusual that we have to pull an order or handle a repair and we also have to keep up with posts and emails. It is very likely you will need to leave a message and we will call back.

Please email me a picture of the damage and we will get this sorted- Tunze@sbcglobal.net.

In general US products are not supposed to ship to Canada, Canada has its own Tunze distributor with exclusive rights. We will only ship a part at our expense within the US, if you don't have a US address we can ship it to Bulk Reef Supply and they can take it from there or if you pay shipping we can ship direct to you in Canada.

Hello Everyone,

I bought two Nano Waveboxes over the last 6 months. They both have the same issue described here (i.e. grinding, stopping after few pulses). I have not contacted customer service, but here's how I got mine to work:

1. Remove the pump & run it inside a bucket for an hour on 12V, increase voltage every 10 minutes or so, see how the pump & power supply perform. I found that brand new pumps can't handle 24V right out of the box.

2. Check the motor housing inside the wavemaker box. One of mine appeared to be warped. Used hot water & pliers to bend it back.

3. The bottom panel seems to be a common issue. The second one I got was visibly convex and never clicked into place. Result was the same as described above i.e. pump kept dropping. I used hot water & some muscle to straighten it. Also I bent the rear mounting clip outward so it catches the box now.

If that doesn't work, un-clip the rear of the bottom platform mounts and find the sweet spot until you get a replacement. I've heard great things about Tunze customer support in the US, though I've never called them.

Maybe these things get warped during shipping due to temp changes.

Hi Eren, thanks for your post.

1) It can be useful to start at 18V and run it this way for 2 weeks but mainly to reduce noise, it should still work. For the first two weeks parts are seating and wearing in.

2-3) My apologies for these issues, believe it or not, the 6206 is entirely hand made, it is one of the most extensive hand labor products in our range. It starts with a 3165/9002 skimmer body being modified and a 6055 being modified and the parts glued together, the sides are sawn off and everything is glued and hand fitted. This does introduce a high chance of small cosmetic blemishes (glue blobs, deformation from the solvents in the glue), in general though they should function properly, we do test everything before it leaves the factory except the power supply. I have seen these issues before and I assume that heat may be a cause, perhaps the plastic weakened by the solvent is more likely to deflect from heat. Anecdotally I have more of these complaints in the summer. You are correct that with some patience and manipulation it can usually be repaired. It may also be that the solvent is not completely dry and from laying on its side there is further deflection.
