breading lined seahorses

I will be breading lined seahorses this summer in large quanties. Last year i had 14 pregnent males but due to my lack of knolage i didn't know how to take care of the fry. What would you recomend the best way to do a large scale breeding program. Also what is the best thing to feed new born baby seahorses? I would like to learn everything so please tell me all you know from houseing them - feeding them and what to feed them at different stages.

I'd suggest you do an awful lot more research and reading. ;) You really need to know the basics (housing and different foods) before you even begin to think of breeding...especially on a large scale. If we could tell you "everything", we'd ALL have large scale breeding operations.

I assume you still have the 14 males.... or at least a tank of seahorses currently. I'd suggest you take the knowledge you've gained over the last year keeping/housing them and expand and incorporate that into a breeding plan. Additionally, I'd specifically research the different breeding techniques used for Erectus and their fry and come up with a plan of your own.

Best of luck!

Theres a lady here in Oklahoma who is starting a large scale breeding operation, and i think she feeds her fry rotifers. I think she keeps a culture of rotifers for them.

Erectus do not require rotifers as there first food.

Many believe species like reidi do, other have luck with alternative first foods for reidi. Breeding information changes significantly depending on the species.

Who in OK?

IME rots are not hard to culture.

I am in OK and i feed my newborns newly hatched bbs. THen in a week i start to introduce with the live, frozen bbs. Then I have a formula that i use once i catch them eating dead bbs. My 9 week olds are eating mysis hikary. The first day i put it in the tank as an experiement and they dived for it. Great to watch. Now i am trying it on all babys over 6 weeks. They are erectus.
