Break-in period for Octopus NW200

Hello everyone,

On Monday I started my Octopus NW200 for the first time, after adding about 130 lbs. of LR to my brand new setup.

I believe I've read that it will take some time for it to start coming up with skimmate, but can anyone please tell me how long it "should" take before my collection cup starts filling up with something?

I have the raiser tube up as high as it can go.

I have the Octopus 110nw and mine wasnt producing any skimmer juice after about 1-2 weeks, then I read there was a washer on the pumps input that restricts the air intake. I took that out and its been making about 1" a day(wet).

I dont know if yours has the washer but I would check, sometimes the air inlet can get clogged with a new tank setup, Take the pump out and inspect it. Sometimes it can just take time also, so if all looks good just wait a few more weeks!

Could take a week or two before it breaks in. There is a 500 page thread running on mods for Octopus skimmers. Worth checking out.

Thank you both for answering so quickly.

I've been reading through the 500+ pages basically all day long, trying to find exactly where I had read it before. Dumb me should have book-marked that spot. :sad1:
