I'm gonna have to tear down my 240. For the second time in only a few months, the tank has knocked out the power in the portion of the house that it is plugged in to. Last time the electrician came out, he suggested I set the tank up on its own separate circuit to keep it from happening again. But that's very pricey. Came home from work tonight to find my power out again. Resetting the circuit box does nothing. Last time, the electrician found that wires had caught fire in the wall. The inside of the wall was black and the wires were all melted together in a ball.
And, to be honest, my tank has been totally neglected since the summer... I have been working out of town a lot and just haven't been taking care of it. It's pretty embarrassing
I will be shuffling my sixline wrasse, firefish, dartfish, pink tail trigger, pair of anthias, 5 chromis, pair of mandarins, leopard wrasse, clams and corals to other tanks.
But some of my fish will need to find new homes. Please let me know if you think my asking prices are off, I've never had to get rid of an animal before.
12+ inch vlamingi. Be forewarned -- she has been sick. I am sure she has outgrown my tank, and I was planning on finding her a new home anyways. She has popeye in one eye right now and occasionally gets ich outbreaks. A vlamingi this size will normally sell for at least $400, but I will give this fish away for free to anyone who has a tank larger than mine and will promise to help her get better. She has not been doing well for the last week or so, and I want her to go in a bigger tank before she gets any worse. Her name is Jill
I've had most of the fish below for 3+ years now, so they are all healthy and hardy.
Yellow tang: $20
Yellow eye kole tang: $25
Pair of pajama cardinals: $5 each
Blue damsel: free
Yellow-tailed damsel: free
Coral beauty angel: $20
Pair of tomato clowns: $10 each
I know I'm missing a few fish. But I can't think of them at the moment.
I will need to get rid of approximately 400 lbs of mixed live rock (90% Fiji, but some Caribbean and Tonga), $3 per lb. Some of the rocks have kenya tree infestations, and there are some majanos on three or four of the rocks. Never had aiptasia, never had flatworms, no algae whatsoever, excellent coralline coverage.
It will be easier if I can get rid of most of the rock before I have to try and get the fish out. Eventually, I will be getting rid of the tank, stand and lights (Aquamedic 4 x 250 w MH w/ T5s).
Please let me know if anyone wants my rock or fish. Thanks. This has been a really hard decision for me
