breeding banggai's

first what makes you think so?

2nd if they are, are you rdy to raise them? You should get a rotifers and brine shrimp culture moving. Gut load them with selecon and sperila

3rd it would be a good idea to get a grow out tank rdy like a 10 gallon. People have had as many as 57 bangaii from one father. You'll want the grow out cuz something they eat the young and it just easier. You'll also wanna look online for a plastic urchin. In the wild the babies appear to enjoy hiding in its spines for protection.

Other then that search the web and forum for setting up a grow out tank

he looks as if he's carrying something in his mouth and he won't eat. he never passes up brine shrimp so i know something is up. i already made a couple fake urchins so i'm all set there.

The fake urchins really only help if the babies can find them. How long has the daddy refused food? They will hold for about 21-24 days or so (If they hold to term)

No need for rotifers, newly released bangaii that have been held to term are more than capable of eating new hatched bbs. I use a hatching decapsulated from Brine Shrimp Direct works well and no shells.

Keep an eye on the papa, if you try to catch him you may force him to spit out the eggs. Not a good thing unless you have a way to incubate them to term. Hatching jars work well.

Isolating the babies after hatching will be easy IF they find the fake urchins...collect them and the urchin at the same time. Other wise get ready to hunt them down one by one and try to get them without damage. Not real easy in a reef.
