Breeding Dr. Suess fish

I have 2 Dr. Suess fish. I want to breed them and looking for advice. How to I tell their gender? I bought the largest one and the smallest one.

How can you afford ( or even find for that matter ) two Dr. seuss soapfish. One on liveaquaria went for $6000! If you can manage to find two without going bankrupt, I'm not sure how to go about breeding them. If you can however breed them it would become famous because of this fishes rarity. The price of this fish would go down tremendously if you would show other people how to breed them. Im sure other, more advanced facilities have tried and failed. It wouldn't hurt to try though. Besides $15,000 dollars in equipment and fish.

Check out all things written by username Paka for starters (Karen Brittain). Your tank needs to be at least 30" high for a spawning rise to occur also you need wild phytoplankton that you can source daily to feed the fry if you were ever able to get to that stage

Sorry about the spelling lol. Th fish were expensive but not $6000 expensive. They were $800 each. There were about 10 in the tank. I don't want to break any rules so pm me and I can give the shops name incase you want one. I am keeping only 6 fish in a fowlr tank. So spending some extra money on fish isn't a big deal.

Morty I can't find anything with that name or author. Why will I need wild phytoplankton? I already have tons of cultured phyto for my clown. I am pretty sure the larva of the Dr. seuss fish will start off eating rotifers or pods.

The Dr. Sueuss fish will change genders on their own. No need to sex them.

Sorry,I first thought you were joking:(
It would be better if you edit the title adding the scientific name.I think you need the mod to do this now.
And pics or vids will be awsome. b
Have you read some about breeding?.What makes you confident that the larvae will take rots?

Karen works at the Waikiki aquarium and has successfully bred and raised Venestus Angels and most recently the masked angelfish (personatus). If you read any of the articles she has written the wild phytoplankton in the right micron size is what she was able to keep the angels alive with and raise them until the could accept Larry's reef foods (with the masked angels) She has a lot of success doing this and she is one of a handful that have successfully bred and raised "new, difficult" fish

Get in touch w Karen through the aquarium. With that type of fish I bet she would be more than happy to help

I wish you luck and like other have said get in contact with Karen. She has be quiet for the last few months. Who knows what is she is working on now.:)
