Breeding Ocellaris Clowns - My unexpected attempt!

As far as the breeding goes, I still have 7 happy little guys from 2 separate hatches many months ago in a small aquarium on my desk. Apparently my bookkeeping skills suck and I didn't log those events so I have no idea exactly which batches they were from nor when. One of the little guys is a dwarf "hunch-back". LOL. His body is bent/twisted and he's a dwarf compared to the others. I'm guessing something went wrong during metamorphosis but he is a little trooper and fun to watch! It is interesting though to watch him during feeding time when he fights his way through the big guys to get his food. Once these guys are a little bigger (and we're moved into our new house in November) I'll be setting up multiple tanks and splitting them up in pairs to hopefully breed. The little dwarf will remain my "Nemo" and stay on my desk! :):fish1:

For months now, I've been missing the hatches from my normal ones because they moved behind all the rocks with their anemone so I can never see or tell when they're laying eggs. When I do finally find a clutch, I always miss the hatch and/or aren't set up and ready anyway. This last hatch from last week I guessed on based on the color of the eggs and I hit it on the head! They laid the eggs on my back glass so it made the scraping easy, however several hundred eggs never hatched and out of the hundred or so that did make it, all but one have perished. I'm trying to keep that one going by a miracle because I just had both of my Rot cultures crash. All that's left is the few Rots in his jar that I'm trying to nurse back to health. More details on this in dayzed's thread.

Lastly, there's a new clutch that was just laid on Sunday night on a top rock so now I will know the hatch exactly and will (for the first time) be able to pull the whole rock to try to get them to hatch successfully. I'm estimating the hatch will be monday night, the 24th, so I'll be pulling the rock this Sunday night. I sure hope I get my Rots back up and running by then! I may just purchase a new bag or two and start a new culture

And there you have it! 6 months or so worth of update! Thanks for reading my novel, if you made it this far! LOL Aren't you sorry you asked? :)
