Get a royal gramma. My girlfriend picked mine out and loves it. Friendly swims around and has pink.

I've heard they're jumpers though...do you have an open top?

I've had it for about 9months in an open rimless cube with no problems. My uncle has one in his cube without a problem as well. Maybe we've been lucky.

Thanks...good to know. I checked live aquaria and they don't make a note of it (and they seem to be pretty good with those warnings) so I may give it a whirl. Sometimes people are paranoid....I know every fish *can* jump but just don't want ones that *want* to jump. I had one way back in my 180 days and thought it was great.

Tank looks great btw. Love the stand.

Thank you! It's coming along. It's nothing compared to what was lost in the great tank flood of 2013, but we will get there. I'd like to share some photos But at some point in my emotional journey from that loss I apparently decided that purging all my old photos was a cathartic experience. All I have is this one photo that showed about 1/2 of the tank.

Thanks Brian. I built my own stand so it sat higher. Because I'm taller. And like the blue pine. I've done a lot of carpentry. Hahaha it's plenty tough. Sorry to hear about your ato mishap. Looks like your on track. Just keep your head up. And happy reefing!

It looks great! I'm not necessarily taller, but I do wish mine sat taller so I don't have to stoop to see my SPS up top. Yeah, we're on a great path with this tank and I think it'll be better than the last. Just frustrating to hit reset on anything you invest that much time on over so many years.

Ya it is. I hear ya. Especially when you grow your own colonys from frag and all excited about it. I recently over dosed my tank on alk. Ugh. Had to frag birdsnest colony and large chalice. And a povona also. But keep your head up and live and learn. And always keep an eye on this things. You have a great looking tank so far!

Speaking of my QT. This is the first time I've used it. Here's a broader shot. The sponge filter has been living in my sump so hopefully brought plenty of bacteria with it. Got an ammonia badge, a heater, and a couple hiding pipes for the fish. Have all the standard meds on standby just in case.

That's some Blanton's bourbon in the glass, as well, if you're curious... Pretty tasty!

Have you had that set up for awhile, or just set it up? Looks just like mine but a lager or ale sitting there. Hahaha

Well, I've had all the gear sitting here for probably six months waiting on the fish that met my wife's exacting requirements for the next fish. But, I just put water and what not in yesterday.

If the photo had been taken later in the evening it would have probably been a stout instead of a bourbon!

Hahaha funny! I would just keep an eye on the levels. Once a day anyway. I did the same exact thing just on stand by for emergency or hospital tank. And I had an alkalinity accident I mentioned before. Oh six months ago. So I set it up. All went well... Fragged a couple coral that were bleaching from bottom up. Kept my birds nest frags in my display. And put chalice in frag tank. For a week they did awesome! Woke up one day checked on it before work they were all white and water was milky. I couldn't figure it out for awhile. Well ammonia was high. Went through cycle. I used three good sized old rock and half old water out of display also. Another lesson I have learned. Hahaha sorry so long just though I'd share. Seems I was following your post.

For sure. I got one of those ammonia badges so every time I walk in the room I can see what's up. Have some replacement water on standby as well as RODI for topoff.

Cool. Just thought I'd share like I said. I was so upset when I lost all the chalice. And every piece in the display tank. Is still going strong. Good luck. Nice looking fish!

I also just started to get coraline algae in my hospital or frag tank. I enjoyed seeing that so much I think I'll just leave it always running. For the big job it does. It comes up to be very handy lately!

Yeah...I've been debating. Do I keep it running fallow? Turn it into a frag tank? Tear it back down?
