Its doing good. Corals look great. I added my fish back around a month ago, but ich poped back up. Incredibly upsetting!!! I've been pretty ****ed about it but I still cant figure out what when wrong. I did 5 weeks of cupramine, didn't mix water, and 8 weeks fallow! I dont know what else I could have done. Fish are all super healthy and fat just a few spots here and there that is very upsetting after all the time and money I put into ridding the tank of ich. Oh Well...

Looking really good, everything's filling in nicely! The rock work is outstanding, 3 island style is the design I went with as well. Very natural!!

Yep, I had the same thing happen 6 weeks of cupramine and 4 weeks with out it. The fish never showed ich in QT. 10 weeks of fallow only to have ich show up a few weeks after the fish were added in. Just about made me sick.

It seems like it's impossible to have a tank free of ich. If your like me I will add a new fish quite often. One fish is bound to have a spot on him and transfer it into your tank even if you go through the proper QT procedure.

I will quarantine my new fish to catch any disease such as a fungal infection. Also, diseases like marine velvet which could wipe out a tank make it a no brainer.

Realistically most people starting up aren't going to go through the trouble because they usually have enough on their plate. Eventually people will pick up on disease prevention and most likely go through the necessary steps.

So what was you solution to the problem? Just continue to feed well and supplement?

There really is no clear solution. After talking with alot of people and doing alot of reseach, i thought fallowing my tank would work. So, now I will just run UV and hope that the fish will build an immunity to it.

Nice shot Brian.

Well, that is very interesting. Im certain that the meds worked on the fish, but the ich didn't die in the tank. Im not sure if 8 weeks wasnt' enough or it was living in the sand or on the Starfish/Snails...

Im dont think I'll try it again becasue it was expensive, super stressful, depressing, and I lost some fish in the process.

I think it is possible to have an ich free tank but you need to start with dry rock and all fish QT'd before going into the tank. But then you run into the problem of adding coral that have ich in the water they come in on that you can introduce into the tank.

Also, I think that ich was alive in the tank because it didn't show up on fish until they were in the tank for around a week, not right away... Man, I wish there was a better way!!! But I am with you about just keeping the fish healthy and hopefully they will build up an immunity to the ich! keeping them fat and in a stress free invironment is the the Key!

Ryan, I feel the same way. As for 8 weeks being long enough, I did mine for 10 weeks, so I'm not sure how long the fallow period would need to be. I don't thing I will be adding any new fish for some time as I prefer to QT all my new additions and feel that the time and money that it take to do so is not worth it just to have the fish get sick once added to the display.

Oh well.... I guess. I still enjoy the hobby but it would be much more enjoyable if the display was ich feel. For now I will just sit back and enjoy what I have and hopefully things will change.
