Bright Green Rhodactus Bleached White

The very 1st shroom I ever bought, a bright green Rhodactus mushroom (over 2 years ago)--has split to 4 nice sized ones. I came back from vacation & they are totally white! They are not dead, still firm to the touch. What's wrong w/them?

Yeah, the palys just appeared there one day. The zoas, I glued on. Both have been on that rock since last year. I have another kind of rhodactus that are acting a lil weird (there are 4 of them split from 1)--they look a bit raised, instead of flat & are expelling their innards.

Did you move them? Change the flow they're in? It sounds like they're not happy with something and are going to move. I have some lrg grn hairy shrooms in my 125 and after I started making changes so the tank would be suited for sps, they moved, they expelled their innards( actually spit out some babies, in ball shape), attempting to get somewhere that was better suited for them. Survival tactics.

What about your lighting? Are you bulbs up to date? Did you just change them? It's odd -- I've seen my shrooms expell junk, but never to the point of bleaching. It's usually occurs if I improve thier lighting situation.

Is there another softie coral that you could have been disturbed? did a rock rip apart a colt or something? Maybe your seeing the results of some chemical warfare. Are you running carbon?

Nope, haven't moved them. Bulbs are getting a bit old (10 mos) but they are near the top & the others are in the middle. I run Purigen on there but needs to be reginerated--I was supposed to upgrade the tank months ago. Working on that this weekend.

Thats crummy.. I don't know what to suggest except the basic stuff (water change, move them, ect.).

The good news is that you can keep them alive with feeding, and hope that they come back. Please let me know how it goes. I'd like to know what caused this, or in the least, what solved it..

Not a Coco worm, just a pink feather duster. Got it from Ocean Design. I'd love a Coco but they're too expensive.

I wonder about chemical warfare in this situation. has anything nearby them going through a growth phase where it has gotten closer to them?

That rock actually sits on top of a Seio pump. Nothing is touching it. One thing though, I haven't recharged the Purigen in quite some time. I'm probably 2 months past due.
