bright red mushroom growth

flash&fire

Couple months ago I picked up what seems to be a bright red mushroom (Actinodiscus sp.?). All seems to be well in color and size but was wondering what the growth process is, ie when will i see a second or third red mushroom?

what are the signs of multiplying?

thanks,

Depending on your water parameters... could be anywhere from a month or two. My mushrooms grow like crazy and I am always fragging them and selling them. As for "signs" I have no idea. I usually just look under the mushroom or when it shrivels up

If you feed them they will come!

If you feed them they will come!

The more you target feed them the faster they wiil grow and multiply ....Plus adding Iodine every three days and adding buffer calcium and magnesium will help too...:hammer:

imo you should never add anything into your tank that you can't test for, iodine is really easy to overdose and I'm not sure what relation it would have with mushrooms...

flash&fire it really depends on your lighting, tank conditions and the mushrooms. I have some that walk and make new ones every few weeks, and others that didn't split in two years until I had to cut the base.

On the Bright Well iodine bottle directions the first thing it says is "test your iodine levels, do not over dose".
As far as the growth I think it depends on the shroom. I have a blue one that has split 4 times in the same amount of time my orange one has not split at all and they are in the same area.

I think mushrooms are like zoas. For some reason certain ones grow like weeds in your tank, and others don't seem to grow at all. I have some red mushrooms with orange tips that have spread nicely in the tank, and some green ones that haven't grown at all
