Is there anything that can be done to brighten up Zoos and encourage them to open up?
Also I have some nice palys that are really fading, the color is not as rich as it once was, they are open and growing fine just looking very dull.. Can high calcium levels cause this?

my params
Sg 1.025
Alk= 9.6
Calc= 465
PH = 8.2-8.3
Temp = 78.5-80

are there any pumps or powerheads directly hitting them.... and how long have the zoas been in you tank?

Salinity may be a bit on the high side, but that is all I see.

i keep my salinity at 1.026 - 1.026

Salinity looks fine. Almost sounds like they are bleaching. Have you tried moving them?

not yet they have been there for a while and doing fine..
No pumps pointing at them at all, they do get some secondary flow

Sometimes things just morph and lose color in our tanks. If it's not a lighting issue it very well could be a nutrient issue. The thing with zoanthids is they occur in a very wide variety of conditions, some of them are literally found where raw sewage is being dumped into the ocean, others are found in lagoons with varying conditions and very shallow water, others are found more closely associated with the reef. Some like a ton of light others do better with a little more subdued lighting.

The lighting on your tank is not T5, it's just a 50/50 T5 size power compact which is just Red Sea using a little marketing spin by taking advantage of the popularity of T5's. In other word, it's probably not too much lighting and I doubt they're bleaching unless you placed them close to the light source from the get go.

Some pics of the colonies in question would certainly help us help you.

ok makes sense ill send some before and after pics, they have been low from inception though
