Brine Shrimp Continual production

Larry, thanks for the link, this is something that has to happen in the next couple of months.

I was using table salt + for my BBS but now using some of the recycled tank water, I am finding that a 1/4 tsp scoop of eggs and feeding them I am actually getting more artemia to feed freshwater fry and juvies then when I was doing 6 scoops a day and harvesting 5-6 gallons worth daily, getting more volume now, I dont have many newborn fry so this works fine for me, right now just feeding the yeast solution.

Jake,
Be sure you request a copy of their master 2006 calendar because I noticed the website does'nt list all the scopes just the more expensive ones. It is a fish keepers wishbook and full of technical bulletins and tables relavant to design and other aspects of aquaculture.

Thanks Larry

ref the 29s, I have never owned a skimmer so 'dont know what I'm missing.' I try to keep low bioloads so that is probably why little or no problems, I've had a number of HOB filters but mainly use power heads. Those 'tops' they include in the kits are only good for keeping some fish from jumping out, I prefer glass covers.

Lately for lights I use mostly snap-on spots, with the equiv. 100 W compact flos, do have a couple of the equvalent 120 W ones, lots of light, even the one or two sps seem to be doing real well.
Once the other tanks are set up I'll be adding some 4' shoplites with BMs and actinics. The highlite needers will get two of the 4' double shoplites, thats 160W of flos, I've kept xenia well along with a few sps on that.

It is so much easier to feed APR or plain old brewers yeast is hard to beat fr price and ease of use. Don't try to make growing brineshrimp so technical. It is just too easy to bother going that direction.

I'm not fimilair with Artificial plankton rotifers, could you embelish a little on this for me? I assumed I'd be using phyto since I'll be culturing that stuff anyways for other projects.

It's exactly what the name implies, an artificial substitute often used in commercial shrimp production. I don't understand why you just don't use brewers yeast. It's cheap and easy to use and produces large quantities of fast growing shrimp and instead of using labor intensively produce phyto you just add enough yeast to slightly cloud the culture water and more as it clears again. Further enrichment can be accomplished with Selco for marine fish, No further enrichment is necessary if you are feeding FW fish.
Have you tried to google brine shrimp culture methods yet? Others may have more to say on this subject but I really can only repeat what is already out there on this subject.

The reason I don't use it is cause i havn't decided on wich method to use. Like you said, there is so much info out there. And everyone has their preferred method. I just never heard of artificial rotifers before so i was curious. I'll definatly try multiple methods to find one that works for me and my particular setup. Brewers yeast is definatly on that list too. thanks for the help.
