Ok, let's do some pre-registration of rares. I'm hoping to get half or more of the rare group done with this thread and the rest on the day of the swap.

To qualify for the category you need to bring 2 frags of rare coral to the swap. You will need to check in with one of the rare judges when you get there.

As usual, the rare group will sandwich the other picking groups, i.e.
r, a, b, c, r, c, b, a......

Remember that rare doesn't necessarily mean pretty and that brown is a color too.

Post your pics in this thread and feel free to ask any questions you may have.
Cheers-Jim

I might go, although I haven't gotten a response email. I signed up for BAR a couple days ago, and I understand BAr volunteers are busy. I'll send paypal ASAP once I get a response email or something

I might bring 2 frags of the cali tort.

Is the garf bonsai still rare? LMK

Registration process isnt final until the paypal is sent to the BAR paypal account paypal@bareefers.org The BAR membership registration on website does not notify anybody that you registered it just stores info in database but is the first step in registering. Once paypal is sent I get a email and update the membership and send confirmation email. PAYPAL is the preferred method of payment for memberships for BAR.

Cali tort Not sure. Supposedly, a slow grower, but there's an aweful lot out there (ORA)
Oregon tort YES
Ponape pink green birdsnest YES
Elias stag Yes, but Jim might say otherwise
Idaho Grape Yes
LE Aquituberculata Yes
Leng Sy cap Yes, if it's the true version
True Superman monti Yes
Rainbow monti Yes
Sunset monti YES
Reverse Sunset monti No
Flower Petal monti No
Morningstar monti Not sure
Pokerstar monti Yes
Tyree Blue Polyp cap Yes
Atlantis Pink Polyp cap Yes
True Undata Yes
LE Confusa Yes
Fire Engine monti No
Karl's Candlelight acro YES:D
Atlantis/Tyree Monti fovealata YES
Pink Lemonade acro YES
Atlantis Blue Acro echinata YES

A lot of these are on Steve's Limited and Auctioned Editions list, which I feel would be a shoe in for rare consideration. It's certainly not reserved for those lists only, however:)

I see we disagree on the Idaho Grape Karl. Being it's such a quick grower, and the fact it's been a give away item locally, I feel it's not a rare in the BA.

Well, I was on the fence with that one, too. Same can be said with the Steve Elias Stag. Especially in the BA. If you guys prefer, when can exclude certain pieces you feel are too abundant in the area.

Not sure how LPS and zoa people would react to that:confused:

my santa gift was a frag of the Idaho at the xmas party :)

I'll need to post some potential pictures later... umm much later since I don't have time to do much else.
