bringing corals back from vacation

Im not talking about taking from the ocean if you all are fussing about that. Im talking about buying from a store and bringing them home. Both lawrence and I discussed that via phone so dont get it twisted before I get Ghetto on this forum.

customs are different story. They don't care if you bought it or took it from the ocean. Without the proper channels it is all the same to them.

It was nice knowing you guys, I can't believe what people will go through for the best new chalice, The new Lawrence/Tanu LE Hidden Treasure Chalice also referred to as the Man who walks funny Chalice. Make sure you triple bag it:D

The airfare is over 10 k to go to the PI with the family
The bright bright pink chalices over there are a buck a piece :)

awesome Lawrence. But would it be worth it? Also since we are talking about this on a public forum for all to see? if divers do get it from the ocean and if no proper permits customs will come down hard and trust me I went to school with a custom agent (dropped out of grad school cuz he got the job) and he takes things very seriously last time I checked.

That is why I ask if someone can point me to getting cites permit and proper way to do it:)
They have legit coral farmer in Palawan mostly European that most likely export it to europe.
Also my friend bother in law export high end fish to REI
In El Segundo

Maybe find a wholesaler who is importing from that area and make a deal for there supplier to handle the shipping and permits? Or maybe some secrets are too guarded? I think if you get in touch with the collection companies where you are going they would give you the best advice to legally land coral in the US? I want a frag of all the nice stuff and will help with the shipping costs.

So if you were diving in the Blue Lagoon, and saw a 10 color rainbow chalice you would not break off a little piece and deal with whatever it takes to get it home? I think most of us would?

I can buy full auto parts for my AR but I do not and will not since I enjoy my freedom and do not want to put my family or myself in a legal ($$$) issue. So in regards to coral if I see a coral with all the colors of the rainbow and it even had those colors in a design that wrote kichi...I will take pics and be on my way. Now if I got the proper permits and/or contacts...well that may be a different story.

I think it would cost too much to import 1-10 nice coral pieces from philippines. Get them from Palawan or where else, fly back to Manila, straight to the airport, take PAL (Phillipine Airlines) direct flight, I think 18hrs? Then have the custom guys look at it, go straight to your home quarantine tank and have it die.

You would need to import thousands of $$ worth of stuff to be worth buying the permits and hopefully keeping them alive and making some money off of them.

Corals are cheap in the Philippines, I saw 1foot hammer corals going for $5 retail, I was even gonna get the permits to get them out of the country, but then I figured, I dont want to bring a coral here and have it seized if I didnt have the right permits here.

But good luck though, and get me a frag when you get them. lol jk :-)

Don't worry when I get arrested I'll be able to hold my own when I drop the soap in prison. Ask cornbread what I did to him when he got near my rear end. Wasn't a pretty ending for him.
