bristletail filefish behaviour - male&female fighting?

hey there.

Ive had a male bristletail filefish for a few months, added a female before christmas and they have been in the same tank (50g, some rock, some sps, some caulerpa prolifera as "seaweed", clowns&blenny for mates) for about 2 weeks.

now that i get to see them more often, i noticed that the smaller male (has bristles on tail) from time to time when they come together, somehow attacks the supposed female. he makes a half turn and then darts with his mouth to her side, but from what i see does not touch her.

this does not stop her from coming to him when she sees him, after the incident she sometimes swims away, sometimes stays with him. the also display very different coloring when they meet - he is in his "rock camouflage", she displays plain green color. i read that plain green stands for stress, but when she roams around the tank she also has different camouflage styles. i have not made out any territories of the one or the other.

i actually bought the female for some pairing and to make the male less shy. last has happened, but now i think hes exaggerating ;)

has anyone experienced something similar or has an explanation for this?
this makes little sense in regards from what i read about these fish

ps - my aiptasia is all gone although ive never seen them eating them and i had ALOT! love those fish, they have the sneaky trigger swimming style minus (most) coral destrution.
