Broken 6045 - question

I have a 2 yr old or so 6045. Today it was making noise and when I opened it, the metal shaft fell out. There is a small black piece on the end about 2mm up. Is this worth fixing? I have never had one break so this is new to me.

If you press the shaft back in, is it wobbly or is their some tension to hold it up? I assume the black piece is likely the disk 6025.740.
