How long should a tank be fish free , so that the brook parasites can die off?

Brooklynella may not be an obligate parasite, so it is possible that it could survive indefinitely in a tank without fish. I would just wait a month or two, place only very healthy fish into this display after they have been quarantined, and hope for the best.
