Brooklynella Question(s)

Background: 4 weeks ago a purchased a beautiful blue jaw trigger. Against my better judgement I did not quarantine him. He was added to a established 125 gal mixed reef tank (14 months old). Immediately upon adding him to the tank the overall "stress" level in the tank went through the roof. The yellow tang in the tank went crazy and started picking fights with nearly all the fish including the trigger. I lost 2 anthias and one kole tang in the battle.

Stats:
Amm: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 60 (probably from the multiple deaths)
Alk: 11
Ca: 500

Issue: About 2 weeks ago the trigger exhibited slight signs of a parasitic infection. I was not sure because with the tang picking on him, he spent most of his time out of sight. Therefore I did not get a very good look at him. Unfortunately at the same time my family and I went on vacation. When I returned on Sunday my neon dottyback was gone. And my two clowns had obvious signs of brooklynella. (slimy film and heavy breathing). The one good sign is that all of the fish are still actively feeding.

Action Taken: I have remove the two clowns and given them a fresh water dip and placed them in a QT tank with Cupramine and Formylin. I plan on keeping them there for the next 8 weeks. I think this should cure the clowns. I am also soaking all the food for the DT in Selcon and garlic; not sure if this will cure the brooklynella but I figured it can't hurt.

Problem: I do not think I will be able to remove the trigger without completely removing all my LR and most likely killing several corals. Additionally none of the other remaining fish (goby, hawk, basslet, wrasse and yellow tang) are showing any signs of brooklynella.

Questions:
1) How can I treat the trigger is I can't remove him from the DT? He is eating, any medication I could add to his food?
2) Are all of the other fish in the tank potential carriers even if they dont exhibit any symptoms? Again I do not think I will be able to catch all of them without destroy coral.
3) If the clowns are "cured" and I place them back in the tank in 8 weeks will they not just become re-infected?

Any other suggestions (or prayers) would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Having two clown myself, I've done extensive research on Brook. There's two possible treating methods, Formalin (Quick Cure) dips/baths if the brook isn't too far along.

If you can't get the fish out of the DT then you're best option is to medicate via food. For instance, you may want to pick up some of the Dr. G's medicated frozen food and feed that to your DT. I have used Dr. Gs in the past with 100% success.

PS. Like Ich, Brook lives in the tank, so without doing a tank fallow period you'll have that risk of it reappearing!

Good luck!

Maybe this will help you catch the trigger,I used a glass mason jar,put it in a corner and slowly run it in the jar.It took me about 5 minutes to catch my pink tail.Good luck with the treatment.
