Brooklynellosis

I believe this is the disease that killed my ocellaris and two yellow tail damsels seemingly in a a day. Fish seemed healthy and ate Firday night. Saturday I woke to two dead yellow tails and ocellaris blowing in the current at the surface to be dead about and hour later. I have my hippo and Goby in QT after a formalin dip for 45 minutes. The tang still has black marks above the gills(will post pics when I get home). Do you recomend a second or third dip or is one sufficient? The tang is hidding still after a day and I would hate to stress more for no reason. I will continue to monitor to ensure that I am treating the correct disease. If it is brooklynellosis how long should I leave my display fishless? I would hate to reintroduce the fish after treatment only to infect them again. TFTH

Depending on the dose and the condition of the fish .. more than one formalin bath maybe needed.

I have heard various numbers concerning leaving the show tank "fishless" --- most seem to be around 5-6 weeks. Many would suggest you keep your fish in QT for 4+ weeks after signs of brook are gone.
