is it possible for a clown to develop brookynella after 2 years in the tank? i have two one is looking real bad, and it really looks like brookynella.
i had a bad week for the tank, first the heater went out. tank dropped to about 69ºF one night, most nights the temp stayed around 72-73º. i got a new heater slowly brought the temp up of the next couple of days.when i ordered the heater i got a new maxi jet as well. well of course it fell into the sand and caused a huge mess. later that same night the power went out for a few hours, so now im stuck with no flow, and sand dust every where. this was last friday, my powder blue tang picked up some Ick while the heater went out. he was looking better once i got the water temp up. well last night when the lights were just about to go out, i noticed him swimming weird. he was fine when i fed the tank yesterday morning. woke up this morning with no PBT in site, found him dead in the back of the tank. i had him for almost 2 years. now one of my clowns is swimming in one spot, not eating, and the skin looks like its coming off, just like brookynella. the only thing i can think of is when the the powerhead fell off and stirred up the tank, is caused a release of something bag, hydrogen sulfide, or something maybe. that caused the fish to stress, from a low pH or something maybe, which lowered their immune systems maybe. dont know.
im thinking of maybe doing a FW dip with the clown to see if that helps tonight, if not and he makes it through until tomorrow maybe i can get some Formalin to dip him with. i just dont want to loose all my fish one by one.
all the corals, and other fish look fine right now. water test out great other than a little high on the nitrates, which is almost normal for my tank.
