brown acro question

Sorry for the poor quality pic. I took the picture just before turning off the lights and of course my pic quality settings were at the lowest setting. Oh well. Anyway, I originally bought this acro a year ago. It was brown with nice blue polyps. I had it for just a short time, a couple weeks and I ended up moving so it went to my brother in laws tank. He has 4 t5 54w X 4. The coral really didn't grow at all, and lost it's blue polyps. Now, two weeks ago he gave it back to me and I have 400 watt halimton 14k mh bulbs on lumatek ballasts. The coral is probably half way down the tank (24" deep tank). What I'm seeing is the top branches on the right are slowly lightening towards light brown - whitish, with a little purple tint. The polyps are also slowly turning green. Is this normal? Also, I'm wondering if the polyps will regain their blue color or green? Last, why are the branch tips on the right turning towards white/purple, when on the left the brown isn't lightening and is getting a little blue tint? One more note, the nurtient level in my tank is perfect.

Off topic, but does anyone know why I can see the link to the picture on my computer (reef central) but not on my phones taptalk app? I seem to have more trouble trying to upload pics to this site.

Your coral is beginning to grow/color up. The tips on the right are beginning to look like growing tips with their coloring and shape just developing. Brown is probably not the true color of your coral either and hopefully that will improve. Polyps may be also changing to whatever healthy coloring this coral should have. Actually, quite exciting to see return to a healthy frag. 400 watt mh's are pretty powerful lights but hopefully since you have this placed halfway down, probably not going to toast those tips. Enjoy the remarkable change that is about to unfold in front of you. This is what makes this hobby so cool.
