Brown algae in ....

I have brown algae in my sand. How can I get rid of it without using gobies(diamond, w.sleeper,...)?

as in diatoms? Is your tank going through its cycle? Whats your water parameters?

No, my tank was set up in september of 2005, and the water parameters are all good, i just want to know is I can put something that cleasn the algae in the sand (not gobies)

Sand sifting stars should do it. I had the brown on sand bed a couple times. I vaccumed the bed at my water change a couple times added 2 sand sifters and a couple conch snails for mixing. Never had again.
