Brown algae - not diatoms

It's been over 4 months now, and I still have this brown algae that grows in my 32g biocube that has been set up for over 6 months. I was wondering if this brown algae is lobophora- the weird part is that I has no "leaves" and does not feel rubbery. It is certainly not diatoms. Anyone have any luck with this? Or know what it is?

It scraps off only when using very sharp objects - almost strapping off he rock. It feels like pelt or dried cloth- the algae grows extremely close to thee rock.

I've tried everything to get rid of it but no luck thus far. Urchin seems to eat it but mine won't travel around the tank.

My parameters are:

Salinity 1.026
Phosphate 20 parts per billion. (0.02 ppm)
Calcium 450 to 460
Alkalinity 10
Mag 1400 to 1420
Nitrates <20 ppm (undetectable with API kit - only 2 clowns, 7 snails, 1 shrimp, 1 urchin)
ph around 8.2

If anyone can help- I'd be very thankful. Surfed the net for weeks and haven't been able to find any success stories. Some say naso tang works - but only if it's true lobophora which I am now starting to doubt.

Strange nitrate parameter. I have api and if it says my nitrates are undectable that means they are less than 5ppm.

Strange because it does look like diatoms. After a long time they build a wicked crust. But I'm no expert.

Good luck!!

You're probably right- nitrates <5ppm. I didn't bother to check my physical test it before posting. Just recall definitely that it was undetectable for sure.
