Brown Hair Algae?

Pleeeeeez help me. I have a 3 year old reef tank that has a brown hair algae problem. It started when the tank got hot, then cool, then hot, then cool, about 2 months ago. My NO3 is 0ppm, and I've tried running phos pure in my wet/dry, and I've increased the cleaning crew, and put in a Tang. I then got some Algone, and still I have this stuff. I've tried toothbrushing it, hand pulling it, and even left my light off for 2 days, but no luck. I have not used RODI water, but use a Tap Water filter as I have for years. Does anyone have any ideas as to what else to try. Oh yea, I feed about 3 times a week.

maybe need a new tap water filter...you could try some sea urchins...buy carefully if your tank is acrylic

Thanks, I have never had any urchins, cause they remind me of a bull in a china shop. I have a 1 1/2" hermit crab that plows down everything like a clod, and if urchins are as dainty and coordinated, then I may have to try something else. I just bought an RODI (Kent Hi S Maxxima) but my water pressure is too low, so I am awaiting a booster pump.

Actually, urchins are quite nimble. I've watched my longspine black urchin squeeze himself into places I never thought he'd fit.
