yikes just when i thought the surprises were over i find these things, tiny grain of salt size brown reddish bugs all over the sand bed. there must be a million easy
:eek1:
what are they? are they bad?
ive nicknames them gremlins lol

"Rotifers are pretty much the smallest food hobbyists can grow, and you'll need a starter culture which is available online from Florida Aqua Farms. Rotifers are tiny specks of dust basically. In the image above, there are hundreds if not a few thousand rotifers that gathered along the edge of a petri-dish. Video would have been a better choice as they are just too small for my camera to photograph accurately. Rotifers need phytoplankton to live, and this must be provided daily. The rotifers consume the phyto and then they can be feed to fry (baby fish) or to corals late at night, when their polyps are extended for feeding. Reef-safe."

Its just fish food. If you didn't add them to your tank it must be something else.

no i didnt add anything
i dont even have fish yet
i have live sand and live rock, a star polyp, 2 hermit crabs and a 2 legged serpent star (he had a boating accident)
it just looks like reddish dust running on the sand, they dont go on the glass. the appear round but they are so tiny i cant make out a body

Are you sure its not just cyano on your sandbed or something? When you say "bugs" you do mean they are moving around and you can tell is alive?

yes they are scurrying around. they run on the sand and i did notice they can climb the glass, but not far up just like half and inch then they run back to the sand.
they look like mites
are there mite type bugs in sw tanks?

oh and wat do u mean BOATING accident

lol im sry it was my own humor...
i bought a serpent star last week and the lady in the store picked him up bare handed and he has lost all his legs. he actually died this morning
so instead of going into detail i just said boating accident

ive been doing searches on those bugs and so far i cant find anything.
i found another life last night when i turned off the lights, looks like a mini medusa worm sticking out of the rock grabbing food.
after research it could appear to be a peanut worm
i just hope those red mite looking things arent parasites
