Brown Rock Anemones taking over!!!

just fyi
finally got the link to that majanos from hell thread (off my old computer

http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1202166&perpage=25&pagenumber=1

strangely enough when i did a search (several actually)
it wouldnt pull up the thread in the sps forum...

oh well here it is

note the MANY pics of majanos literally taken over the tanks...
and many of these folks were veteran reefkeepers... some ended up having to take down their systems COMPLETELY to deal w/ the problem...

iow its obviously not a 'pest' to be taken lightly
the guys who have gotten away w/ only zapping one or 2 were quite lucky in that the manjanos hadnt a chance to spread...

note towards the end of the thread
there were various postings re to differerent types of fish that might work to go after the majanos... perhaps that route will be a hit or miss type thing.

good luck to all you guys dealing w/ this problem...
again IMO it has to start w/ removing any and all rocks from the system that show any signs of infestation... from there might research it and make your choice but mine was to nip it in the bud so to speak by bleaching the rocks.

Oh dear Lord - first I figure out I've got mantis o' rama going on in my tank, now I realize I've got at least 2 majanos too. One day at a time..... :p

it would seem we all go thru these stages at some point in time...

taught me a valuable lesson -
the importance of QT everything... funny its the veterans who most always preach this - although at the same time everyone seems to be guilty at one point or another in wanting to rush things along.

i got flatworms from not QT macro/chaeto before adding it to my system...

now who would have thought to QT macro ???
:eek1:

never had a mantis problem - but did have to remove a pistol shrimp not too long ago!

good luck
