I've been fighting this stuff for almost a month, could someone help me identify what it is? I'm currently assuming it's dinoflagellates.

I'd say your assumption is correct. Wetwebmedia has an awesome photo lineup of almost everything you will ever encounter in a salt or fresh setup.

Looks like dinos to me from those pictures. You can really get a good idea if you look up close. Reefcleaners has a good shot of it in their algae ID guide: http://www.reefcleaners.org/nuisance-algae-id-guide does it look like that?

BTW, don't use their suggested solution of boiling your rock, that's really dangerous and can kill you.

Dinos are tough to beat. Good luck.

Looks like Dino's to me too. I remember reading a thread where someone cured their dinos with a low dose of peroxide, and by dipping the rocks in peroxide and scrubbing the dinos off.

Well this is a bit late, but I was browsing through old comments and saw this. For anyone's info who happens on this, the blackout and PH shock worked. It took a while for the tank to stabilize, but the dinos finally went away.
