Brown Spots on Kole Tang

I have a Kole tang that has developed brown spots on his body and tail. He is still very active and grazing on algee all day. I am not sure what to think this is because everything i read about ich and velvet suggests white spots. He is not scraping that much but it is definetly apparant that he is not well. It tooks like it is starting to effect his tail a little more today. He also looks a little thin on his bottom section behind his stomach. I ran a water test today and everything checked out ok. I had a bit of nitrates come up but nothing unusually high. I am planning another w/c this week to try and correct this. Any thoughts?

i don't know what this is, but it sounds as if it is the samething that my solah tang has, there are brown spots on his body near his anal fin. just wondering what has happend to your tang. what treatments have you tried and were any of them successful. thank you.

I treated the tank with melaflex (melafix). It did wonders and he is happy as can be now
