What causes zoas/palys to brown out? I have mine under a 150W 50000k halide. Tank is 50cm deep.
They used to look like this ....

but are now starting to fade and brown.
Its heartbreaking to watch

50K 150 watt? I would say lack of par/light, but I do not know much about 50000k bulbs?? What are the pics taken under they do not look like 50k. good luck

if you mean 5000k than that is the problem. need to be more near the blue spectrum. 12k or 14k. or 10k w/ actinic supplement.

150w Iwasaki Double Ended 50,000k Rx7s Is what im using. It certainly kicks out enough light so im pretty sure its not that.

Is that what the pic is taken under? I am guessing you are not from the states and I have not read much on 50k bulbs. Depending on what ballast you have the par might be low-just a guess?
That picture appears to be under 12-14k if not lower, is that the 50k bulb?? good luck

I just checked Sanjay's site and it is listed 50k what ballast?

It could be that the bulb is old, and spectrum has changed..It could also be the start of bleaching from excess light. I had zoos go from colored>Brownish-colored>bleached due to lighting change I made..
