Browned out Stylophora, recovery time?

I got a brown, but otherwise lovely stylophora in a recent frag pack. I was curious how long browned out sps usually take to regain their color, given the right parameters? I understand that it may just be a brown coral, but as the flesh is pretty white I am hoping for some color change as she adapts to good lighting and water.

Alright cool, thanks! I couldnt find any information anywhere about how long it would take to color up, just posts about people finding their colored corals were starting to brown. In the meantime the clown goby makes a nice contrast in it 😃

I have found that any coral purchased online usually browns out from shipment and takes anywhere from two weeks to several months to "color" back up. Stable parameters help.

Yup, can be weeks to months... it just depends. I have only had a few color up that were longer than four to six months, but these are the outliers.

Watch out for that clown goby - they are know polyp eaters.

it depends... my stylo started out brown, but I fed my tank and put it up all the way to the top and it turned out to be a purple milka

you can see it on the left here

I was so surprised that I took all the snapshots and compiled an animation of the progression:

oh. I did use a UV LED light that was sometimes offline (resulting in the pics not all being under the same color spectrum). Last images are under just MH.

Oh, wow! Thats beautiful! It would be awesome if mine turned out anything like that, but Im not going to hold my breath. I feel like its gotten a touch more red in the 5 days Ive had it, but thats probably just my eternal optimism lol.

I will keep an eye on the clown goby, he just sits on there, not picking or anything. Hes been eating pods off the glass, I havent seen him eat any of the other food Ive been feeding so I'm a hair worried about that. But the stylo doesnt even close its polyps when it sits there most of the time. Not unless the goby gets surprised and takes off quickly.

the clown goby will not harm the stylo....but....he will harass smooth skinned sps. He will violently bump the skin with his head then suck the mucus. It is certain death for a frag. A large colony may survive but it wont be happy. If you have several large colonies he can live indefinitely off them without eating any other food. (don't ask me how I know :angryfire:)
