Browned out?

I saw it on a post and think I know what it is but not sure why or if it's reversible. I have a colony that started bright green with orange spots in the middle after a couple months, it turned greyish then polyps turned brown where the tenacles are and grey green in the middle. I have had it for over a year and it has never changed back but is spreading like cancer. I also have another frag that u got from a member at a meeting and it came like that, actually it was 2 of them I won in a raffle. They ate spreading like crazy, then one of them "died", it shriveled up and polyps dissapeared for a week, then the other day it came back light tan with green dot but getting ugly again. The other is the same as when I got it, grey and drab.

What's the deal? How? Why?

Pics to come.

1. Top left and bottom right were the same
2. What kind of zoas or palys are these
3. Shows that all of my others Re fine and have been fine for a long time
4. Top middle used to be the bright green with yellow dot

so, what is a remedy if any and am I right? Is that "browning out".

I found an old pic of what I was talking about, this was from last november when it started to change. I purchased it in August of 09 and it was very colorful. Then, this:

With zoas and palys its almost always the lighting they are getting.
What kind of lighting do you have on your tank now?
